I have sensitive,
combination and acne prone skin. I have tried multiple brands and products to
find what works best for my skin. We all have been through a journey to look
for the right products right? Now, my skin is in the best condition is has ever
been since I started getting acne. I think it is the right time for me to share
with you my daily skincare routine.
My skin used to have
lots of little whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples, and my skin gets red
easily. But, all the products aim for oily skin and acne treatments don't
really work for me. Some of them dry my skin out and/or irritate my skin. I
figured I might have sensitive skin, and the acne is actually an irritated
reaction. So, I started to treat my skin with more soothing and chemical free
products. If I want to treat my acne, I use something that is mild and natural.
I am using almost
everything from Lush. I am not saying these products will work on everyone, but
it really does work on me. For cleanser, I use either Aqua Marina or Herbalism,
they both works wonder for my skin. Aqua Marina
is aim for sensitive skin since the main ingredient is calamine. Herbalism is
for acne prone skin, but using natural ingredients like kaolin and rice vinegar
for it. (The best makeup remover I've used is actually something I made myself,
nothing ever beats that. I’m going to post about the DIY makeup remover if you
are interested.)
After I cleanse my skin,
I use an exfoliator called Ocean Salt. It’s the best exfoliator I've ever used;
It makes my skin silky smooth and help reduce blackheads. I exfoliate everyday.
Yes, you read that right, everyday. I learnt from a dermatologist that people
should exfoliate daily since we have dead skin cells build up everyday. By
doing so, it creates soft smooth skin and prevents blackheads. But, you have to
make sure the product you use is mild enough for you to use it often. Ocean
Salt works for me, but there are still people who think it’s too harsh. It may
not work for you, but scrubbing with Ocean Salt definitely works for me.
To moisturize my skin, I
tone my skin first with Tea Tree Water, and then apply the Celestial
moisturizer before the toner is fully absorbed. Applying moisturizer on damp
skin can help the product spread using the tiniest bit of amount. Celestial is
also a moisturizer aim for sensitive skin, which is not too greasy for my
combination skin type. My skin behaves so well while I use Celestial, I can't
even survive without this moisturizer.
The Tea Tree Water is a
very natural product for my acne prone skin. Another product I like to use to
keep acne away is Grease Lightning. There are no acid, chemical or any medical
ingredients in this spot treatment. It contains ingredients like tea tree, lavender,
and aloe vera, which all works well for spots. I have used spot treatments that
make my skin dry and flaky before. I have also used effective product that works
so well I apply more, and then end up with red and swollen face. However,
Grease Lightning doesn't irritate my skin no matter how much I apply. Even
though the result may not come as wonderfully fast as those chemical ones, I am
glad this product is not harming my skin in anyway.
I have used this skincare
routine for about a year, now. And, I have repurchased these products multiple
times. I only make small adjustments for different seasons. I apply more
moisturizer in winter, and less in summer. I have written a product review on
Aqua Marina and Herbalism. Please let me know in the comment if you have any questions about
other products from Lush.
What is your skincare
routine?
I used to use the Tea Tree toner, too, but it is a little to stripping for my aging skin these days. But i love Lush skincare nevertheless.

Have you tried their other toners? I think they have a rose water one, that would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the British Nanny facial moisturiser which I only use when my skin is super dry.
ReplyDeleteI also got the Oatifix fresh face mask. which I use once a week. Keeps my skin plump and moisturised. I'm trying to use more natural and chemical free facial products for my sensitive skin.

No, I haven't. But I love their face masks. And the bath stuff, obviously.

Thanks, Lucy? Have you ever tried their other skincare products?
ReplyDeleteHi Alcione, I agree with using more natural products for sensitive skin. Do you have any other suggestions for natural skincare brands?
ReplyDeleteNeutrogena Visibily 2in1 Face mask is good. It helps with my pores. I also use a turmeric face mask for blemishes and apple cider vinegar to tone my face.
ReplyDeleteI haven't but I definitely want to x
ReplyDeleteGreat! Thanks for the recommendation. I've never used it before, and I love discovering new products.
ReplyDeleteI did a couple of product reviews about Lush, you can check them out if you are interested.
