REVIEW: Lush Dark Angel Cleansing Roll

  • Messy
  • May leave stain
  • Absorb excess oil
  • Deep cleans
  • Smooth and soft
I love the cleanser rolls from Lush, I have tried each one of them. Different cleanser roll works for different skin type. I have combination skin, prone to redness and acne. So, I reach out to the Dark Angel in hoping that the charcoal can help detoxify.

It really does absorbs excess oil and deep cleans the skin, and leaves it feeling silky smooth. My skin is clear of pimples. But, compares to Aqua Marina, my face still get a little bit red afterwards. Dark Angel says there are sugars in it to exfoliate the skin, but it just dissolve into the water without doing much work. So, if you are looking for a scrubby product, this is not it.

The cleansing roll is very funny looking, it's a jet black mud which breaks off easily and feels like velvet. I think the fine charcoal powder gives a soft texture. It feels like painting the face with real charcoal.

As much as I love Lush, I really don't want to say anything bad about this product. However, it is extremely messy to work with. I tried to be super gentle, but the black drip gets everywhere. I have to clean the bathroom after I clean myself. It's easy to rinse away with water immediately, but if you leave it overnight, you'll have to scrub it.

Moreover, it leaves dark stain on my skin. After I thoroughly rinsed, I still gets my towel dirty when I pat it on my face. And, sometimes there will be dark stain visibly on my skin that can't be rinse off, which makes me look dull and grayish. I tried to use cotton pad and toner to wipe away the excess, but it took me three cotton pads to do so.

I have decided I have to give up after all, it feels so bad to see the dirtiness all over. It's extremely bad to have that stain on my face. I, now, use it at night before I go to bed. So, the stain won't affect how I look. This is still a great product to battle oil and acne, I just hope it is not as messy. I don't think I will repurchase this again.

Have you ever tried the Dark Angel? Please tell me how you managed to get the stain off!

  4. I bought a cleanser by Lush called Angels on Bare Skin which was amazing (don't know if they still sell it). It was amazing but a bit tricky to work with. I don't think I'll try this one out but wouldn't mind trying Aqua Marina.

    Thanks for sharing.
